I. Breakout Session with Industry

In conjunction with the Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing, this breakout session will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about industry developments in somatic genome editing and associated technologies. In this session, global industry representatives will engage in a question and answer session with the public about industry activity and the associated legal and ethical debates raised by genome editing technologies. 

II. Breakout Session on Embryo and Germline Editing

The Wang Gungwu Lecture Hall, Graduate House, The University of Hong Kong 

In conjunction with the Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing, this breakout session will focus on the use of genome editing in human embryos and germline cells. The session will provide an opportunity for a more in-depth discussion of the research presented during the summit, an opportunity to discuss other relevant research, and an opportunity to discuss the potential use of genome editing to make alterations that may be heritable. 

The session will include presentations from local researchers as well as from researchers around the world. 

III. Let’s Talk About Genomics and Genome Editing

This event is designed to provide members of the public with a general introduction to genomics and genome editing. It will provide participants with an opportunity to consider scientific and ethical questions related to the use of genome editing and engage in a conversation with experts on these topics.

The event will be simultaneously translated into English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Refreshments will be provided.
